About DeckQuack

Games are stored in encrypted archives which are then decrypted on your system. This helps to prevent ISP monitoring -- You don't need a VPN! (You can still use one, if you like, though :) )

We have to pay for file hosting, so your donations are greatly appreciated.

Quacked games on Deck made easy.

This wouldn't be possible without the people that make repacks -- You know who you are. Thank you.
Our goal is ease-of-use, not compression, so things may take a bit longer to download, but are faster to install.

Feel free to request new games on our request page!

FAQs

1. Does this work on other devices than the Steam Deck? Yes. As long as you are using a modern distro that supports flatpak, it should.

2. Why not do this myself? What do you provide that I cannot set up myself? Nothing. We provide an easy to use interface that will automatically install and configure your games. We make the process easy and simple.

3. Is this safer than torrenting? Since the games are encrypted until they get to your machine, your ISP cannot see what you are downloading, so in that way, yes.

4. Is this open source? We don't have a github repo, everything is hosted right here, but feel free to peruse the scripts!

5. Are your games safe? Yes. We provide games from known good sources.

6. Why are you doing this? This community has supported me throughout my life, and I want to give back. I want to make it easier to get started with computing, and that includes games.

7. Why does DeckQuack use so much storage space during install? Instead of downloading a highly compressed archive, we provide the full, preinstalled game, along with wineprefixes to make sure it has all the dependencies it needs. Our goal is making things easy, not compression.

8. Why don't you have ____ yet? It takes time to add new games, and while we are trying our best, it still takes time.

9. Will I get banned from Steam for using this? Although we cannot guarantee it, Valve is not known to pursue pirates.

10. What do you think about the ethics of this? That's an interesting question. I support indie devs, I support developers getting paid well, but the large corporation crunch culture needs to stop. By giving less money to big companies, we can send a message to treat their developers and consumers right.

11. Do you make money from this? Donations barely cover the server costs, and this is a passion project, our goal is not to make money.

12. I added a game to my Steam library as a non-steam game, how do I add the artwork? You can download this from SteamGridDB. We are working on an easier solution, but this is what we have for now.
